1/10/2013 2:11:00 PM County deputy use of deadly force was justified
When Chisago County Deputy Steven Husmann fired his gun and struck a domestic assault suspect, killing the man last July, the use of deadly force was justified. That is the finding of the Chisago County Attorney. There will be no charges and the matter is closed based on a state led investigation, which is standard procedure in any officer-involved shooting. The MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension presented Chisago County Attorney Janet Reiter with its investigative findings on the incident early in October 2012. Her determination that the use of deadly force was justified was announced by the BCA in a statement January 10. North Branch Police and county deputies responded to a call of a domestic disturbance on Feaski Circle, in North Branch, about 9:30 p.m. July 8. Robert Aho, 47, exited the garage area carrying a rifle and shotgun. He ignored repeated instructions to put the weapons down. Deputy Husmann fired twice at Aho as the barrell of one of Aho’s weapons was being lowered at officers. Aho was airlifted and died at Regions Hospital.
