Zion council recognizes incredible gift to church fund

Ted and Louraine Noreen recently gifted approximately $750,000 to their church, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chisago City. The size of their gift to his work through their church speaks to their relationship with the Lord and their belief in their church as a place devoted to His word. Ted and Louraine spent their married life in the Chisago City area. In their working years they farmed together and Louraine taught second grade. They did not have children, but their extended family and their church family became their family. After retiring from farming and selling the farm, they moved to Chisago City just a few blocks north of the church. They continued to be involved in church activities, and were regular Sunday worshippers. As they grew older they continued to make it to worship every Sunday. Ted was losing his eyesight in his later years, and could not drive. Louraine continued to drive even as she began to show signs of Alzheimer's (the disease that would eventually cause her death some years later). Ted would navigate with limited eyesight, and Louraine would act as pilot. The thought of this teamwork under these conditions is heartwarming allowing them to continue making it to Sunday services at Zion. That is telling on just how important to them it was to get to Zion for worship. Their gift to Zion is also very telling just how important church was to them. The church council says thank you Ted and Louraine for your generous gift to God's work through your church here on Old Towne Road. The council will aspire to be responsible stewards of this gift to assure His work can continue for generations to come. Submitted by, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church  Council
