The Sheriff’s Boat & Water Patrol is out on various county lakes and has issued a few citations, mostly for equipment violations. June 6 a suspect was located by a deputy on patrol and directed to return to the Tesoro Station at #17 in Lent Township, after causing damage in the gas pump island area and leaving the scene. The deputy said the suspect vehicle hit a diesel pump damaging the pylon and rupturing a fuel pumpline above ground. Incident happened about 11 p.m.

Stacy area couple killed in June 5 crash
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Dept. is investigating a two car crash, assisted by the State Patrol. The crash happened June 5 on Lexington Avenue at Lever Street, and killed Richard McGill and Deanna McGill, both 71, of the Stacy area. The crash site was reported Wednesday, June 5 by a passer-by about 8 a.m. The accident involved the McGill’s Ford sedan and a Toyota SUV, driven by a 33-year-old man from Maplewood. The sheriff’s press release said the elderly couple was dead at the scene.
Driver sentenced in 2012 vehicle fatality
Brooke Bednarek was recently sentenced by Judge Robert Rancourt who had also accepted her earlier plea (March 18) acknowledging criminal operation of a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .08 or greater within two hours. Judge Rancourt ordered 180 days sentence in total; which may be served 30 days at a time. Bednarek, 20, was placed on 10 years of probation supervision, and must do 300 hors of work service, not use or possess alcohol or controlled substances, will supply a DNA sample, submit to random searches and testing and pay a $1,000 fine. Bednarek, from Lindstrom, was driving a Dodge Stratus car in April, 2012 that crashed into the rear end of another car parked at the four-way stop in Stacy. The passenger of Bednarek’s car Jonathan Gravelle, 20, died from injuries suffered. The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta that was hit was not seriously hurt.
