Hwy. 8 chairs fundraiser bid deadline September 3
There are only a few days to get a bid in to own one of the “Life is Great on Highway 8” art chairs. The bidding will stop at noon Tuesday, September 3. Proceeds from the chairs silent auction become an investment in this region.
The money raised by selling the custom painted Adirondack style chairs goes into the Chisago Lakes Community Foundation, a tax deductible area organization that supports the community endowment. The foundation accepts applications annually for grants, that local groups use for funding projects in local parks, promoting the arts and other needs.
Bids are submitted at the business where the chairs are displayed. You can see what the last bid was, written on the bid sheet, and go up from that. There is also a website that features all 37 chairs that are up for sale, and the latest bid for each chair. One chair was quickly reserved, with a max $1,000 bid. (It’s the one painted in a Scandinavian theme, featured at Up North Gallery.) Some chairs have no bids on them yet, and many are hopefully going to sell in the few hundred to several hundred dollar range.
Brenda Palmquist, one of the chairs fundraiser committee members commented, “By bidding on a chair you will help make this project a huge success and benefit the Chisago Lakes area for years to come.” She added everyone involved in the community foundation thanks those who have embraced this campaign to “...highlight local artists, bring our communities together and create a sense of pride.”
