Drug charges, underage drinking charges result from Almelund party bust

Sheriff’s personnel broke up a house party very early Sunday morning, Jan 12 resulting in two arrests ad charges against Alexis Ann O’Brien, 18 (speed) and Eric Thomas Leintz, 26, (mushrooms and LSD) for possession of controlled substances. A number of adults between 18 and 21 were cited for underage consumption and several for fleeing authorities.

The sheriff’s department reports an anonymous complaint, a little after midnight Saturday but those partying inside the home, on Wenell Avenue in Almelund, refused entry when deputies made their presence known. Law enforcement maintained a perimeter keeping the area secure and a search warrant was sought. A judge signed a search warrant about 2 a.m. based on what deputies had observed taking place inside the dwelling. Multiple underage consumption citations were issued and controlled susbtances (marijuana and halucinogens) and paraphernalia were seized. There was a theft of a box of .22 caliber rounds reported from a truck at the East Rush Lake access Jan. 10.

Lakes Area Police are looking into a forced entry, at the Lindstrom Quick Stop on Cty. Road 14, discovered about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan 11. January 10 Bunkie’s reported a couple patrons fighting, officers separated the men. There also was a car fire in the alley next to Smitty’s Bar reported about 2 a.m. Jan 10. Car was destroyed.

Lakes Area Police Community Service Officer made an assessment of a site on Jeffrey Avenue where a “kennel” license is sought for having an excessive number of dogs. The “inspection” revealed the animals well cared for, with food and shelter and getting exercise. There were several school bus stop-arm offenses reported to Lakes Area Police Dept. but none of the alleged offenses panned out. The license plate numbers and vehicle descriptions did not match. An e cigarette ticket and two snowmobiling registration violations were issued to students at the high school over the week.
