7/14/2017 10:40:00 AM Karl Oskar Days - you can't tell me there isn't anything to do
Well here we go, here comes one of the biggest celebrations in Chisago County. I am referring to Karl Oskar Days of course. The celebration actually began last night with Harmony in the Park.
Remember - if you are looking to score some cold hard cash, then you may want to search for the lost Karl Oskar Snuff Box. The box is hidden somewhere within city limits. Be the lucky finder and take home some cash. Take home more if you have a 2017 Karl Oskar Days button. Clues will be posted at noon daily here, Wally Carlsons, Lindstrom Antique Mall and City Hall.
Today (Thursday) you are invited to the new city park Kaffe Kanna. You may have noticed how beautiful it looks around the water tower in town. Shoreline Landscaping did a great job turning a boring paved lot to a green, plant-filled city park. The ribbon cutting is at 5 p.m. Ladies, everyone is invited to come to Lindstrom from 5-8 p.m. for downtown diva night. Throughout the town you will find music, wine tasting, bingo and store specials dedicated to you. Also on Thursday is the annual cribbage tournament held at Trinity Lutheran Church. The tournament begins at 6:30 p.m. sharp.
Friday you are invited to a free walking tour of Lindstrom. A guide will walk you through the streets of Lindstrom reliving the history that made our great town. The tour begins at 3 p.m. at the Karl Oskar statue here at the Press.
The St Croix Valley Camera Club will host a great show at the Lindstrom Business Center that will run from 4-9 p.m.
At Beach Park you will find inflatables for the kids to play on as well as a bungee trampoline and as I mentioned last week a wine and canvas event where you can learn to paint and sip wine at the same time. The day finalizes with a great fireworks show that is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m. There is a beer garden located at the park as well.
Saturday has a ton of stuff for you and your family. Chisago Lakes Golf Estates is holding their annual KOD golf tournament. You can register at the course. The largest 5k in the county - the Lindstrom Loppet gets off and running at 8 a.m. They ask you to please register at lindstromloppet.zapevent.com. Right next door at the high school there is a great car show that will feature tons of beautiful old cars, so please bring your camera.
Saturday also has a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, tours of the Karl Oskar House, a volleyball tournament at beach Park, and of course the Grande Day Parade. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Finally, Tim Sigler and his band will play at the Street Dance located in the Municipal parking lot. The show runs from 8 to midnight.
Sunday kicks off with a pancake breakfast at the Masonic Lodge. You and your family are all invited along with your friends to the Chisago Lakes Sportsmens Club community picnic. The picnic runs from noon until 5 p.m. and absolutely everyone is invited. At 1 p.m. you are invited for another ribbon cutting this time at Memorial Park. Come and see all of the beautiful changes that have taken place in the last few months.
Also on Sunday, there is a bag toss tournament at Beach Park. The tournament runs from 1-3 p.m. Sunday finishes up with the 2017 Karl Oskar Days ambassadors crowning at the High School PAC. Candidates are from my son’s grade so I can personally vouch that each and every one of these girls are wonderful young women. The coronation begins at 5 p.m.
