Trail closes July 17 for repairs/improvements

Sunrise Prairie Trail will be closed for repairs and maintenance beginning Monday, July 17.  The county parks and trails director said the paving and crossing improvements are being done by Hardrives (see story Press June 29) and will be complete by the end of August.

“Chisago County was fortunate to secure significant funding for the project through the Land, Water and Conservation Legacy Fund and its regional parks and trails commission grants (that were) initiated by Minnesota voters in 2008,” said County Parks & Trails Director Laird Mork.

The project underway next week involves paving the surface of the trail from the county line near Forest Lake north to Hwy. 95 at North Branch.

Two pedestrian activated lights, similar to what’s in use at road crossing near school sites, are also part of this project and will be installed at #19 in Stacy and at the Cty. Road 17 trail crossing in Lent.
