Wildcat girls lax program gets first win in school history
Chisago Lakes 10, Mound Westonka 9
It took a bit more time than they wanted, by after starting the season 0-10, the Chisago Lakes girls lacrosse team got the first win in program history with a thrilling 10-9 over Mound Westonka on Monday, May 21.
“We were up by a few goals early and Mound Westonka came back and it was a head-to-head battle,” Head Coach Dezera Sieracki said. “It was the best I’ve seen the girls play all year. They played as a cohesive unit all over the field and it was nice to see their hard work finally pay off with a win!”
Andover 14, Chisago Lakes 2
Because of their struggles this season, the ‘Cats drew the bottom seed in the section tournament and had to play Andover in the play-in round. The Huskies have played a very tough schedule this year and Chisago Lakes was just no match for the experienced Andover squad as they ran away with a 14-2 victory.
The loss ended Chisago Lakes’ season. At times, they struggled against some of the bigger, more established teams, but they played right there with some of that middle tier of teams. With more experience and a glut of returning players next year, the Wildcats should be much improved.
