3/20/2014 4:28:00 PM Taylors Falls Elementary designated as Celebration School
by JASON RIEBE Taylors Falls Principal
Thanks to generous support from the Taylors Falls Parent for Education (TFPFE), Jerry Vitalis, and the Taylors Falls Foundation, the entire Taylors Falls School Community gathered together to celebrate our growth and academic achievement. Each student and staff member was provided with a “Celebration School T-shirt” (funded through the above mentioned partners) to wear for our school wide picture. As one of over 160 schools across MN eligible to apply for Celebration School Status. After completing an application and narrative explaining our practices, TFES was one of only 48 schools selected as a Celebration School.
Minnesota has several layers of recognition for public schools based on the multiple measurement rating (MMR) score. The MMR is based upon four components: proficiency, student growth, achievement gap closure, and graduation rate. It is worth noting that Chisago Lakes Middle School achieved Rewards School status, and Lakeside Elementary and the High School would have been selected as Rewards Schools had they been Title 1 Schools. (Chisago Lakes Primary School is not eligible for these awards because the data used are based on grades 3-12.) Each building in the Chisago Lakes School District ranked in the 99th percentile for student proficiency.
