Joanne K. Peterson, born: February 8, 1927, passed away: October 13, 2012. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, David and Isobel Westlund. She is survived by her husband, Donald; sons Jeff (Marilyn) of Maple Plain, David (Jodi) of Huntley, IL, Todd (Kelly) of Mound, and daughter Gretchen (John) Wartman of Richfield; brothers Dale (Donna) of Taylors Fall and John (Nancy) of Forest Lake, and sister Laurie Hastinigs of Chisago City; eight grandchildren and one great-grand baby on the way. Joanne was born in Minneapolis. Her family moved to a farm in Taylors Falls when she was 12. In high school, Jo met the love of her life, Don Peterson, and they both graduated from Taylors Falls High school. Don and Jo were married in 1945 in Almelund, MN. In 1950, they bought a home in Richfield, MN, where they resided for 44 years and raised their family of four children. In 1994, Jo and Don permanently moved to their home on Lake Washburn in Outing, MN. Family and friends fondly remember all of the wonderful memories and traditions shared together there over the years. Joanne will be remembered most for her unwavering love and support of her husband, children, and grandchildren. We will remember her beautiful singing voice, her hand written letters, her smile, her love of books, dolls, jewelry, and knitting, and her ability to never forget special occasions and all of the lovely cards that were sent. We miss you Jo, Mother, Gami… you will be in our hearts forever. Family would like to thank all of the staff at Ecumen’s Margaret’s House, Pastor Ron, and St. Croix Hospice for your wonderful care, love, and support over the past several years.
