In loving memory of Matthew James Weis, June 10, 1963 to January 29, 2017.
To say that Matthew James Weis was larger than life would be an understatement. From the sweet little ‘Cherubic’ boy to the ‘Rascal’ adolescent and teen, his restlessness took him on any adventure he could find. The world was a different place back then and he and his neighborhood pals could wander far and wide to chase those adventures!
That would only be the beginning of his careers and life in Miami, Florida, Vermont, Montreal; Canada and lastly in Lindstrom, Minnesota. His Minnesota ‘family’ numbers many and the outpouring of their love and devotion has been comforting to our family. Matthew’s daring and dashing character was always evident in his love for wine, women and song, and everybody he encountered became a willing participant in his story.
He was a rare combination of someone who was as comfortable in a Ralph Lauren suit as he was in camo shorts and a t-shirt that said “Your bait sucks, and your boat is ugly!” His love for the outdoors started at a young age with a dad and brothers who enthusiastically enjoyed the same. It is no secret that he searched for the finest quality equipment whether it be for cars, boats, hunting and fishing gear, prize winning dogs or entertaining. He understood the simplicity of living a life with those you love and had a high standard for all that he pursued.
By birth order he was the youngest in a loving family of seven children. His irreverence for the traditional was no match for his reverence for his family and friends, the very people that will carry his memory and his stories in their hearts for as long as they live.
