Frank C. Cole, age 90 of North Branch formerly of Excelsior passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Gracewood Senior Living in North Branch.
Frank was born on October 6, 1926 in Minneapolis to parents, John and Irene (Westerfelt) Cole. Frank lived with his family until his mother was placed in a home and his father moved the family to Cass Lake to raise them. This is where his love of the outdoors and fishing began. After the death of his father the boys were raised by aunts and uncles in Excelsior. He graduated from Excelsior High School as a scholar and sports player. After high school he served during WW II as a Navy Signalman. While on leave in Portland, Oregon he met his bride, Helen “Scottie” Scott. They married and put down roots in Excelsior where his career as a baker began working for Best Brands Bakery. He developed many formulas for many businesses including Famous Dave’s cornbread. He was installed into the Bakers Hall of Fame and was well known internationally in the world of food production. When he worked he worked hard and when he played he played hard fishing all over the United States and Canada. He later met and married Betty Cole Hinkle. They were happily married together for over 40 years.
Frank is survived by his sons, Scott (Joan) Cole of Mound, Jack (Teresa) Cole of Isanti, Tom (JoAnn) Sirvoy of Pine River, Steve (Linda) Sirvoy of Cottage Grove, Scott (Karen) Cole of Hudson, WI and Robin (Linda) Cole; daughters, Karen (Tom) McKay of Wichita, KS, Jeanette (Willis) Curry of Rochester and Cynthia Falconia of Chisago City; brother, Mel Cole of Hopkins, 27 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack and Donald “Mick”; sister, Jeanette, first wife Helen “Scottie” Cole, second wife Betty Hinckle Cole; grandson, Dennie McKay; one great great grandchild, stepdaughter, Kathy Sirvoy-Klug and stepson Sonny Sirvoy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Sunrise Bible Church in Sunrise with Pastor David Stertz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment will take place at 10:15 a.m. Friday, March 24 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice.
