Donald D. Monson passed away in his home in Lindstrom, Minnesota on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the age of 78 years.
Donald was born on January 21, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of three, he was adopted by Clarence and Marcella Monson and moved to Taylors Falls, Minnesota. Donald and Jeri met at the ages of 14 and 12 at a basketball game. He always said that the minute he laid eyes on her, “I knew I was going to marry that girl,” and he did on June 9, 1961.
Donald worked for 7up, Binder Beverage, and Pepsi. He received awards for exceptional salesmanship on several occasions. Donald retired from his work in 1987. In his retirement, Donald enjoyed drinking Dr. Pepper on his back porch, playing solitaire in his basement, and mowing his lawn. He took great pride in his backyard and the work he put in to maintain it. He was a Minnesota sports enthusiast, a devoted dog owner, and his love for his wife and grandchildren was nothing short of admirable. They never went a day without him, reminding them how beautiful they were.
Donald is preceded in death by his father, Clarence and mother, Marcella. He is survived by his wife Jeri; his two sons, Kevin and Scott; his four grandchildren, Shannon, Laura, Jeremiah, and Mallory; his sister, Marilyn and numerous nieces and nephews.
