Chestine worked for the Chisago Lakes Schools from 1968 to 1986, was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran church of Almelund MN and was their prayer chain coordinator for 14 years.  She was involved in the Fairview Lakes Hospital Auxiliary and sewed 925 teddy bears for children patients using the emergency room.  She loved spending time with her family, gardening, reading, and traveling especially several trips to Sweden and a mission trip to Ecuador with her sister Mildred Bender.  She will be deeply missed, especially her sweet smile.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ferdinand Carlsted, son Richard, parents Albert and Ottilia Pihl, sisters Sylvia (Kenneth) Froberg and Mildred (John) Bender.
