Stan Davis passed away March 2, 2018 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He would have been 81 years old next month. He had a trailer home on the property of his stepdaughter Roxanne and Randy Wills and step-granddaughter, Karissa Willis. They looked after Stan in his older years with his health problems.
Roxanne and Randy were very devoted to my brother, and I am forever grateful to them for all the fun, laughter, love and care they gave him.
Stan was born in Whitesboro, Oklahoma. He lived in many places. Pueblo, Colorado, then to Milaca, Minnesota, St. Paul, MN, Chisago City, MN, Luck, Wisconsin, Lebanon, Missouri. He owned land in the mountains on the Yak River in Montana and lived there for years while taking care of his buddy Don, while he battled cancer. After Don passed, Stan moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho to be with Roxanne and Randy and granddaughter Karissa Willis.
Stan worked for many companies over the years. Mainly he worked for Schaffer Custom Metal Fabrication, then as a construction worker, but most of his years, he was an over the road coast-to-coast truck driver. Stan was a very loyal, loving giving person. He spent much of his life caring for others. He also took care of his parents for several years until their passing.
He was an avid fly fisherman, spending many hours with his granddaughter Karissa, fishing and teaching her how to tie her own fly hooks. He was also quite a hunter. In the early 1960’s, Stan and Dale each customized a 1903 a3 Springfield rifle with custom stock, and chambered to a 300 magnum. He spent many hours on weekends in his brother-in-law, Dale Fredrickson’s basement. They each also reloaded their own ammunition.
Stan and his brother Jerry Davis and Dale played the guitar. They would play at family gatherings, and at local honky-tonks. Everyone loved to sing along with them.
Stan was preceded in death by his father Albert Roy Davis of Oklahoma, his mother Daisy Engelbrecht of Lebanon, MO, and stepfather Alvin Engelbrecht; two brothers, Ora (Janice) Davis of Milaca, Jerry Davis of Lebanon, MO; a daughter, Theresa Memolo of St. Paul, MN; a son, David Davis of St. Paul, MN, and one sister Marcia Carpenter of St. Paul.
Stan is survived by three daughters, Tammy Cokley of Pueblo, Colorado, Barbrietta (Scott) Aubert of St. Paul, MN and Becky (Mike) Hardwick of St. Paul, three sisters, Barbara (Dale) Fredrickson of Lindstrom, Joyce McGlothin of Lebanon, MO, and Sharon (Dewey) Samuelson of Pine City. And of course, Roxanne, Randy and Karissa with whom he lived. He has many grandchildren, nephews, nieces and family members and friends who will miss his singing, fun and laughter a great deal.
We loved him dearly.
