2/1/2018 12:31:00 PM Child struck by snowmobiler on Chisago Lake dies
Eric Joseph Coleman, the 45-year-old man involved in a snowmobiling incident on Chisago Lake on Friday, January 26, has been charged with criminal vehicular operation, DUI and criminal vehicular operation resulting in great bodily harm.
The youngster who was struck by the snowmobile, Alan Geisenkoetter Jr., was airlifted to the hospital, but his mother Eleanor posted on their Caring Bridge site that he passed away on Wednesday, January 31 due the injuries sustained in the crash. The boy’s father went to the hospital by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The County Attorney and sheriff’s investigators issued an electronic warrant for Coleman of Chisago City around mid-day Monday, as soon as charges were filed-- and while Coleman was still hospitalized with what authorities said were multiple injuries including a fractured arm.
Coleman is alleged to have been operating a snowmobile that struck 8-year-old Alan Geisenkoetter Jr. and his father Alan Geisenkoetter Sr. while they were setting up a portable ice fishing shelter on Chisago Lake about 7:50 p.m. Friday night.
