2/9/2018 2:24:00 PM Prayers for the innocent boy killed on the lake, get in the Home Show tab
So as you saw last week, when the paper went to print, we were all still praying and hoping for the best for little Alan Jr., the boy who was struck by a snowmobiler. As most of you know it is with a heavy heart that I must tell you Alan Jr. has passed away. His injuries were just to severe to overcome.
Having to say goodbye to a child has to be my biggest fear. As any parent would tell you, a child's happiness and well being are the reason we parents exist. We all made the decision to give our all to our children at whatever cost it takes. So to have to go through what the Geisenkoetter’s have gone through in a matter of days absolutely rips my heart out. I have spoken with tons of people and we all seem to be processing with the same feelings; sadness, extreme anger, empathy for the family, and more anger.
The thing that keeps racing through my mind is just how preventable this could have been. Drinking and driving at a high rate of speed at night on a lake where it is safe to say there are hundreds if not thousands of ice fishermen in and outside of ice shacks and pop-ups, is...I'm sorry, all I can come up with is bad words, but you get the picture. This is the second time our community has had to deal with losing a young community member whose lives have been taken by impaired snowmobilers.
We have been trained, educated and inundated on the dangers of drinking and driving, and as the national and statewide reports will tell you, the campaigns have had positive results. Why they don't seem to translate to snowmobiling I have no idea. I don't have the answer folks, all I have is prayers for the Geisenkoetters.
This Friday (tomorrow), all fathers of daughters from age three to grade six are invited to the Chisago Lakes Middle School for the annual Daddy Daughter Dance. The dance begins at 6 pm and runs until 8 pm. You will be treated to a night of dancing, fun activities including photography, games, a magic show and refreshments. The dance is not limited to just fathers, grandfathers are also welcome to join their granddaughters. Your daughters will have the time of their life and the memories will last forever. Rest assured, the music played is family friendly.
The Chisago County Press is joining forces once again with the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and the Chisago Lakes Community Education department to host the Chisago Lakes Home Business and Garden Show. The show which is in the first week of March, will feature local and regional businesses that will showcase their talents and services for two days at the high school. In conjunction with the show, we are putting together the circular that will be distributed to thousands of homes as well as distributed at the show. This is a great opportunity for businesses to advertise in a tab that will be seen by thousands. If you are a business that is planning to attend the show, please call us at the Press and we can help you create an affordable ad that will be seen by thousands. If you are a business that is not going to be in the show, we have many that still take advantage of the special to advertise their business and to be seen in a periodical that is packed with businesses and info about the show. We can be reached at 651-257-5115 or emailed at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to helping you.
