1. What’s one thing you notice around your town that local government can/should be doing something about to improve quality of life? One thing that local government should be doing for our community Is: encouraging participation in community issues Wheather it be through broadening our governments presence on social media, news flyers, websites etc. I feel that for so long people have felt shut out and not listened to at both the County level but also the City level. I also feel that this conversation should be a two-way street. Transparency is key in such a small and closely knit community as ours. Every citizen, as a tax payer, has a right to know what is going on in their communities. At the same time they need to be encouraged to involve themselves in the communities well-being at political, social and economical levels. So if there is one thing that I could stress more, it is that we encourage residents to come forward, and open a line of communication to work through the issues together to better our neighborhoods.
2. Please finish this sentence: The main attribute I bring to public service, on behalf of the taxpayer, is.... My main attribute that I bring on behalf of the taxpayer is Integrity- I am a very honest person. I will make sure the right things are done and carried out to benefit the city of Shafer and its residents. I grew up in the small town of Lindstrom. I have lived in small towns my entire life, I know what it means to be part of a community who depends on one another to look out for the best interests of the whole. I understand that there is a balance between supporting local businesses and missing the opportunity for the growth of the entire community and I will work to grow Shafer while keeping it the small town that it is.
