1/17/2019 2:27:00 PM Voss, Swenson take offices, vacant seat to be appointed
North Branch City Council last week finalized citizen appointments and council members got dibs on their committee work for 2019-- but there’s still a gap in the Parks, Trails & Open Space Committee. With two empty slots it really can’t do its work until it’s full.
The committee meets the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. Council member Kelly Neider is liaison. She says the group is making “some fun decisions” regarding city recreation and hopes residents will step up and get involved.
The North Branch Planning Commission looks to be at capacity now with appointments of Aaron Nysse and Gary Schaefer at last week’s city council meeting.
Some shuffling of committee jobs included: Brian Voss now on the planning commission a council liaison with Schaefer taking Voss’ civilian seat. Voss also will be on the RushLine Task Force, be ECRDC alternate and Audit liaison and alternate to Public Safety. Both his alternate posts are for Mayor Jim Swenson when Swenson can’t make a meeting.
Neider will be Acting Mayor. She is also on Schools and Community Education and Labor Negotiations committees. She and Blomquist are sharing duty on the temporary Senior Community Resource Group.
Kathy Blomquist also is on Heartland Advisory Committee, Water & Light Board (took Kirsten Hagen Kennedy spot) and the EDA with the Mayor.
Council also approved a remote site license for liquor sales at the senior center in Maple Commons for the municipal liquor store’s tastings series. There will be wine, beer and spirit samples offered at the center, February 8. Watch for details or check at the muni off sale locations.
