4/11/2019 3:28:00 PM Snow? I'm close to breaking point, lots to do despite weather
I cannot believe as I write this we are in a winter storm watch. They are predicting anywhere from 5 to 18 inches of snow. Not ready for this. I just spent the day on Sunday getting my boat ready for the fishing season. C'mon Mother Nature - give us a break. Not sure anyone welcomes wet, heavy, snow that's so heavy a snowblower can't throw it. I am trying to stay positive about this, but it is getting hard.
This weekend is supposed to be the Easter Egg Hunt at Paradise Park on Saturday. Check back on our Facebook for updates on the event such as a potential cancellation. If not cancelled, the event is a great time for kids. Beginning at 2 pm, your children are invited to come play kids games, meet the Easter Bunny, take photos and participate in a giant egg hunt that is sectioned off to keep like-aged groups of kids together.
They do ask that you please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food shelf. The hunt runs from 2 to 3:30pm. Don’t be late, it starts when it starts.
In this paper, we have many advertisements of local churches for their Easter week services. You will find Palm Sunday and Easter service times for most local churches and some fun family events such as a TF Lions ham and turkey bingo Friday, or a spring bingo Saturday evening at the great hall attached to the Uncommon Loon. There is a pancake breakfast Sunday at Taylors Falls First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Your family is invited to Lindstrom's First United Methodist Church for an Easter Carnival Saturday. (The carnival takes place before the egg hunt in Chisago City so youcan attend both.) Beginning at 10 and running until 11:30 am, the carnival features games, arts and crafts, a cake walk, bingo and minnow races. Plenty to do this weekend - snow or no snow.
The City of Lindstrom would like to invite you to their third annual Spring Swing Dance Saturday evening.
The event is free and held at the Lindstrom Community Center. If you show up at 5:30 pm, you can get free swing lessons with the dance officially starting at 6pm. Duetschland Meats will have food and beer for purchase.
So, my family packed up and headed to Iowa for my grandmother's 100th birthday celebration. She lives in an assisted living building so our clan of close to 100 all met at the home. Being from "the northland" as we are called by the rest of them, we are somewhat disconnected. The majority live in Iowa - driving distance from Cedar Falls where my Grandmother lives. So when we came walking through the door, you can bet people were surprised to see us. The party turned into a giant family reunion which was great.
I saw cousins, nieces and nephews I haven't seen in years and some for decades. We had a great time and my Grandmother spent the entire (5 1/2 hours) with us without taking a rest.
Not sure how long she will be with us, but I sure enjoyed my time with her over the years.
