4/26/2019 10:04:00 AM Get some sun and catch some sunnies, Lakeside memories....
There is still time for you, your family and friends to sign-up for the first annual crappie tournament on May 4. I have spoken to quite a few fishermen who have told me the fish are starting to come in from the long cold winter.
The tournament is for every level of fisherman and every age. Let’s be completely honest, it’s a reason to get out on the water and enjoy some sunshine and good times with friends. I think the tournament is a great idea and I really hope it is successful. We need a community sport that includes participation of all ages (Yes, I hear you Kubb players).
The tournament runs from 7 am until 11:30 am and will use North and South Center Lakes, North and South Lindstrom as well as Chisago Lakes and Big and Little Green. There will be judges for weigh-ins at each landing on those lakes, so you don’t have to bring fish to Frankie’s. The tournament is split in two divisions, 6-12 years and 13 and up with prizes for top three in both categories and a grand prize of a Vexilar ice fishing unit. You can register for the event on the Lions website or on the Chisago Lakes Chamber’s website. See you on the lake!
This Saturday you are invited to Trinity Lutheran Church for the third annual vendor fair and bake sale. The event is a fundraiser for the Trinity Youth Workcamp trip this summer and will feature some great vendors such as Tastefully Simple, Scentsy, Norwex and many, many others, all with products available for purchase. Therell be artists, crafters and tons of direct sales vendors.
Of course what would a church event be without some mouth-watering baked goods and refreshments? The event runs from 9 am until 2 pm. Trinity is located at 13025 Newell Avenue, in Lindstrom.
May 3, you are invited to take one last stroll down Lakeside Elementary’s hallways. The school is open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Also open Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. If you grew up here or had kids attend school here, you know what a neat old school it is. It was the best time of my school career. I still remember Mrs. Hanson our principal, walking me to class the first day we moved here in 1979. So many great memories and so many wonderful teachers/staff.
Refreshments will be served. Feel free to take pictures of the school for your scrapbooks. There will even be items from the school available for purchase if you are interested. I am told all of the “Warball” balls have been spoken for. That’s an obscure reference from the early 80’s of a game that consumed our recesses.
Chisago Lakes Chamber is looking for volunteers for the 2019 Chisago Lakes Triathlon. If you or your group of friends or family would like to volunteer this July, please give the chamber a call at 651-257-1177.
