5/6/2019 12:02:00 PM Chisago County board briefs...
The county engineer is expecting a bid soon on a project the county is cooperating with the city of North Branch on-- extending Hemingway Avenue, off #14 (Lincoln Trail) northward to a new intersection with Hwy 95.
County Engineer Joe Triplett said North Branch is supposed to have bids by May 7. (This roadway extension portion does not include the round-a-bout at the new 95-Hemingway connection. This is being bid in late June.)
Further east on Hwy 95 and also this summer-- MnDOT is doing drainage and culvert replacement and repairs, and the detour route on county roads has been laid out. The agreement between the state and county anticipates a seven day maximum closure of Hwy 95 between Keystone and Lantz. Exact dates are not known yet. The detour takes vehicles on County Roads 67 and 72, CSAH 11 and CSAH 9 for a total distance of 5.6 miles.
The county engineer was also pleased to announce $339,000 was recently awarded for covering costs of another round-a-bout project in Center City, on Hwy 8. Plans are undergoing state review. This final grant means the “Hazelden” round-a-bout now is fully funded by federal highway safety improvement (HSIP) monies at $1.8 million. Triplett said right-of-way letters have been sent to affected property owners.
