Ditch hearings Tues. Nov. 19 part of busy
week for Board
The county commissioners have a very busy week ahead of Thanksgiving; with a special session Monday, Nov. 18 to discuss the emergency radio subscription contracts and fees to be finalized for 2020, plus their regular meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 20 and sandwiched in the middle are hearings starting early, Tuesday, November 19 for the re-establishment of County Ditches 1, 2 and 3.
The ditches are in the Harris-North Branch-Sunrise and Amador Township area. Dozens of individuals and corporate entities are listed as affected property owners in the land descriptions. The three ditches are the first in what will be a lengthy process of reviewing all the county ditches and benefits (translation: taxes assessed) in the county.
The county commissioners start at 9 a.m. with a public hearing for redetermining benefitting parcels for Ditches 1, 2 and 3. This will last the whole morning.
After a recess mid-day, the public hearing for re-establishing the official ditch records will begin. These records cover elevations, alignment etc. of each of the three ditches. Over the decades there have been alterations changing where the ditches actually travel and at what heights they function.
There’s been a comprehensive records research effort underway with professional ditch-viewers visiting ditches and analyzing circumstances and forming recommendations.
The land sections being affected, according to legal notices from the county: are in Harris Sections 22, 27, 28, 33 and 34, In Amador Twsp. Sections 13, 24, 25 and 26 and North Branch Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 15 and Sunrise Sections 7, 8,18 14, 22, 23 and 26.
