1/16/2020 4:05:00 PM Township building is beautiful, calling all alumni, school survey
This past weekend we attended Karen Palmquist's celebration of life. Karen who served as post master of Lindstrom for years, was a staple in our community and a very good friend of our family. Judging by the number of people there, she must have touched a lot of peoples’ lives as well.
Karen's celebration was held at the Chisago Lake Township's new town hall. Wow what a great facility! It's huge, plenty of parking and very clean. If you are having a wedding, a reunion, a celebration of life, a party, anything - this place is worth looking into. Very reasonable, centrally located and beautiful. Give the good folks at the township a call at 651-257-6906.
Why did I ever write about the Vikings last week? I am the kiss of death for professional Minnesota teams. In fact, the Vikings should consider hiring me to publicly and professionally root for our green and gold neighbors to the east--and the Vikings would be guaranteed to make the Super Bowl. Pretty negative I know - sorry. But my memory from the ‘91 Twins is beginning to fade...
You are invited to the Chisago Lakes Boys Basketball Alumni Night this Friday, January 17.
The boys will be battling section rivals Hibbing at 7:15 in the main gym.
At alumni night, Chisago Lakes basketball alumni can get into the game for free.
Alumni will be recognized during halftime and a picture of alumni with the 2019-2020 team will be taken.
Please come out to support the boys and be a part of alumni night!
The Chisago Lakes School District is gathering input about the community's vision for the school district’s future. They want to know what is important to you. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes. They encourage you to visit the District website where you’ll find the survey. The district is heading for an important time with some potentially tough decisions to make. Your input will help them decide which path the community would like to see the district proceed down.
Any questions about the survey or to request a paper copy, please contact Sarah Schmidt at sschmidt@isd 2144.org or 213-2005. The survey closes at midnight on January 31.
I had the pleasure of being a judge in the 2020 Chisago Lakes Community Education Spelling Bee on Monday. There were 39 students who took part in the bee. Kids were so well-behaved and are so much smarter than I remember being when I was that age.
I must admit, they were quite understanding when their pronouncer (me) would butcher words.
Honestly folks there were words I have never seen or heard before that these kids were spelling correctly.
In the end it was Kathryn Anderson who took first place with Tasman Peterson taking second and Steve McGeery placing third. Congrats and good luck at regions!
