Local volunteers needed, food access sites announced in NBAPS district
Not surprisingly-- area food shelves are looking for volunteers as their usual roster of community helpers has decreased due to the coronavirus virus ripple effects. Family Pathways would also appreciate your food donations, pet food, hygiene items etc. coming in to support their mission. Food shelf locations are in the Chisago City industrial park off Liberty Lane, west of Lofton and north of Hwy 8, and in North Branch, a half-block south off mainstreet, on the one-way at Pizza Pub.
Cash donations are especially welcome because as a member of the state food network the Family Pathways organization can turn one dollar into seven dollars of food buying power.
If you are a healthy individual without high risk factors for the virus-- see the Family Pathways website and submit a volunteer interest form or e mail the manager directly at email@example.com.
The North Branch Area Public Schools are coordinating with food service provider, Taher Dining, in developing drop-off sites where students have access to bagged cold meals like sandwiches, fruit, etc.
Sites are being visited by the district’s food handlers between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Harris, Almelund, the Casselberry neighborhood, Countryside Mobile Home Park and Stacy Trailer Park.
Family Pathways also wants to remind readers of the abuse hotline at 1-800-338-SAFE (7233) if you are experiencing sexual violence or unsafe home conditions. The 24-hour crisis line is continuing to be open.
