All County Veterans' Memorial pavers still available as year 15 celebrated
The year 2020 marks 15 years since a group of local veterans had the foresight to envision a lasting tribute to those who serve--the All County Veterans Memorial in Lindstrom.
A committee of area vets brought together a host of civic organizations and local governments and made Memorial Park a reality. It is hard to picture a Memorial Day weekend without a service held there.
You can show your support and cement your own or a loved one’s place in history, in buying a paver that will be engraved with a name, rank, type of service and dates of service.
Blank paver order forms can be picked up here at the Press or through Lindstrom City Hall. The form has a place to spell out the serviceperson’s name, rank, branch of service and start and stop dates of service. The City of Lindstrom processes the order.
** At this time, ordering is not happening face-to-face, at city hall, due to measures to prevent the spread of the covid-19 virus. But you can mail in an order form, or call and talk with city staff for another option.
Pavers can be bought for those who are still enlisted, for those who have passed on, and anyone who retired or exited from the military.
Cost is still what it was at the original dedication of the memorial -- $100 for the engraving and placement. This is tax deductible.
Sherry Stirling, a memorial committee member, said there are many spots left for engraved pavers. Normally if the pavers get ordered by this time of year, they’d be installed and dedicated at the 2020 Memorial Sunday service. The dedication date could change, (maybe to November Veterans Day) due to the virus situation.
