Work continues soon on Harris to Pine County freeway stretch
The COVID-19 virus is not slowing roadwork slated by MnDOT for I-35, in the Chisago County area. This coming week (April 1) MnDOT announces there will be a switch near Harris to create one lane of traffic from Harris to the Pine County line, lasting until mid-summer. Workers are using measures to ensure they keep a distance from each other, under guidance of public health directives.
The switch involves crews re-striping the freeway starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday. All traffic will move to only the southbound side of the freeway for both directions. The northbound side will be closed until late June or July, depending on the weather.
The final lane shifting project should be painted and physically in- effect by Friday April 3.
