operation raided April 2 east of North Branch
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office has released a statement regarding the break-up around 7:45 p.m. April 2 of a cockfighting event in Sunrise Township and pursuit of one fleeing suspect.
According to the release deputies went to investigate a report of an event in progress at an address on the 1100 block of St Croix Trail, east of North Branch.
As several participants were being identified by county and North Branch law enforcement--the sheriff press report said one suspect fled in a vehicle.
This suspect was arrested and jailed. He is identified as Tou Yang, 39 of Maplewood. He was charged with two felony counts of possessing fighting animals and fleeing.
Eight others, including a 26 year old man from North Branch, are facing charges for engaging in animal fighting. The investigation details have been forwarded to the county attorney’s office for review.
