The data is out and the covid-19 measures as expected created a huge jump in unemployment for Chisago County. The number exceeds the state average and now stands at 9.4 prcent.
According to the Minnesota Dept. of Employment and Economic Development the last time the unemployment average rate was 9 percent was 2011.
In 2009 the county’s rate was 11 percent.
Earlier this spring Chisago County registered an unemployment average rate around 4 percent. In March there were an estimated 1,451 people who were jobless in Chisago County. The most recent estimate is 2,775.
The state unemployment average rate stood at 8.1 percent.
