The Franconia Sculpture Park wants to invite the public to a grand opening Saturday September 26, of the Franconia Commons.  This is also the 24th annual Art and Artists Celebration to be held by FSP.

There are opportunities for residency slots, awarded for art creation suitable for public spaces. Every year before winter hits, the park features the latest pieces and the people behind them.  The deadline to apply for residencies in 2021 is November 15.

Franconia Commons has come together  over the years and part of the complex is a century old farmhouse from the town area of Franconia.  It was moved overnight years ago, covering the short distance to the sculpture park grounds, set on a new foundation and added onto.

The Sept. 26 opening will showcase  the visitor center, performance space, education facility, art gallery, gift shop and restrooms.  There are also sculpture garden offices and a cafe/patio, designed by Tom Bierlein.

The day is admission, it is $5 to park a vehicle on site.

Things get going with performances from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Bands XOXOTECH and Little Tin Box will be playing at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Enjoy food trucks, beverages and tours of the sculpture pieces.

Burial of Don Edler’s “Franconia tablet” artwork is at 5:30 p.m.  The work is in honor of George Floyd.
