Chisago County residents responded to the 2020 Census at a rate that put the county in the top 10 of 87 Minnesota Counties. The best response rates came from Carver at 83 percent, then Anoka, Scott, Washington.
The Chisago County response rate was 80.4 percent.
According to the U.S. Census information the Chisago County response rate is an improvement over 10 years ago— which was 78.7 percent.
For 2020 the local census was done on-line by 69.7 percent of the reponders. The City of North Branch was reported to have had the best response, with 82.4 of residents participating. Shafer was next with 81 percent self-responding. According to the Census Bureau update the data collection is just one part of an accurate and complete census. The schedule for reporting the 10-year data is “not static,” the Bureau added. Report dates are “fluid’ and the plan is still to deliver population counts for apportionment (Congressional seats) in early 2021.
Of all the states in the U.S. Minnesota’s overall response was rated number one. The state rate was 75.1 percent as a whole.
