needs more time
The North Branch network of wireless broadband continues to be in the installation phase, and there’s a few days needed yet for testing by Genesis Wireless. The Braham based communications firm has a contract to service North Branch clients, who otherwise have not been able to connect to the Internet by wire/fiber optic. Genesis is leasing space atop multiple tower sites provided by the city, which give the company locations on which to erect its wireless equipment.
Mary Lodin, of Genesis Wireless, said the engineers continue to work in the field this week. Answers to press questions about range of signal, etc. will be able to be answered soon, once tests have been performed with actual hook-ups.
The city of North Branch installed several points (towers) for the Internet broadband signal to transmit off of. There are points atop a water tower, atop an existing multi-user tower and a handful of new stand alone towers have been put up.
North Branch has pockets where mostly large lot neighborhoods were not attractive for cable or fiber optic to be laid underground through lengthy stretches of unoccupied acreage.
The point-to-point wireless signals are transmitted off the new towers picked up by receivers on customers’ property.
Genesis, established in 1999, is accepting requests for new customers at this time. Call 320-396-2990 or go to the genesiswireless. com website for service information.
