Karl Oskar Days finally here!
It’s here... no, not the summer heat - my goodness is it hot... I am talking about Karl Oskar Days. One of the largest if not the largest celebration of the summer, Karl Oskar Days has something for everybody. Not joking - everybody.
The long week kicks off Wednesday officially with downtown specials with their Diva deals. Also on Wednesday is the start of the popular Karl Oskar Snuff Box hunt. We will post the clues at noon here at the Press, the Lindstrom Antique Mall, Deutschland Meats and Wally Carlson’s BP. Be the lucky finder and earn some cold hard cash. Call or text the number inside the snuff box, if you are the lucky finder.
Thursday there are more Diva deals to be had and there is an ambassadors fundraiser at the Muni including a bag toss tournament.
Friday the celebration really kicks up a notch. The St. Croix Valley Camera Club invites you to a photography show at the Chamber offices, from 3-7pm. In the parking lot across from the Post Office, you will find a downtown marketplace filled with vendors, food and entertainment. Also on Friday the Activity Zone at Beach Park opens with paintball, laser tag, rock climbing, trampoline bungee jump inflatables and pony rides. The kids Activity Zone is open from 4-9pm. Food trucks will line the street by Memorial Park all weekend too. The night caps off with a fireworks show at Beach Park at dusk.
Saturday kicks off with the Lindstrom Loppet at 8am at the Lakes Free Church. At 9am, the first inaugural Herb Jangor Karl Oskar’s 3 on 3 tournament begins. Grab your buddies and head to Trinity Lutheran Church to compete. Back at the high school hockey arena there is a classic car show that runs until 1pm.
There is a pickleball tournament at the Middle School at 10am, a magic show at Memorial Park that runs from 11-3pm. The Karl Oskar Day parade caps a long day of festivities at 6pm so bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Anderson Daniels will perform at the street dance that runs from 8pm-midnight.
Sunday has continued sales, as well as the Activity Zone, photography show, downtown marketplace and food trucks. At 11 am there is a home run derby held at the softball fields at the high school. Register at lakesarea.org.
I could go on and on, but it’s easier for you to just come out and have some fun - locally!
