Odd-even, watering restrictions in place for North Branch Water & Light customers in response to state alert
Recent calls for statewide water conservation are impacting water providers like North Branch Water & Light.
The utility commission approved measures July 21 immediately disallowing outdoor watering with sprinklers between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to avoid wasting water to evaporation. Also effective is the odd-even rule means addresses ending in an even number may only be watering outdoors on even-numbered days of the calendar, and the same with odd. Again adhering to the hours of restriction.
To water trees use drip hose, water bags or a bucket and new sod that’s recommended to be watered frequently may be watered daily before or after the 11 to 5 restrictions.
These conservation practices are in place until lifted.
The utility also asks customers to address leaking appliances in their house like toilets or dishwashers, and to replace showerheads with low flow units to reduce water consumption year-round.
