Buy a coat - donate a coat; take time to tell a Veteran thank you

As I write this column - the prediction of snow is working its way across the tv newscasts.  I guess it had to come time, but I have to be honest, this fall has been amazing.  Just a few days ago we were walking our dog wearing short sleeves.  Break out the moon boots I guess... I am dating myself..again.

Dare to Be You Boutique in Lindstrom is a new clothing boutique located in the mall by Embrace Ortho and Wally Calrsons BP.  Jennifer recently opened the store and from all accounts it is going great.  Why am I writing about the store? Throughout the month of November, if stop in and purchase a winter item,  Dare to Be You will donate the same item to students  of Chisago Lakes Schools who are in need.  What a fabulous gesture!  I promise when you get there, you will find many items that interest you.  Great ideas for Christmas!

If you or someone you know are in need of winter items please email keepkidswarm@isd2144.org.

Speaking of Christmas, Royal Credit Union in Lindstrom (yes it will take a while to get used to this, it’s the old Lake Area Bank) is accepting  toy donations for the Salvation Army.  They are asking for new, unwrapped toys until the end of November.  For those who don’t know the location, the bank is located at 12790 N. 1st Ave, Lindstrom.

This Thursday (today) is Veterans Day.  Thanks to our good friend COVID many events have been cancelled once again this year.  This is a major bummer, because I always love seeing our local Vets and expressing my deepest thanks to them for all they have done for you and me.  I have said this a million times, we here have the greatest Vets in the world.  They are the most caring, outgoing, humble Veterans you could ever meet.  If you get a chance (I hope you make an effort), please reach out to a local Veteran or more and tell them thanks.  Thanks for their service, thanks for our freedom, and thanks for being such great friends and neighbors.

Make sure to get your tickets to the Chisago Lakes High School musical Bye Bye Birdie.  The show runs November 18-20 at 7pm and Sunday the 21st at 2pm.  You can get tickets at the door or online at www.isd2144.org.
