County Board briefs....
The Chisago County Board has three fairly major appointments for offices that are being vacated. Commissioners got notice recently of the exit of Assessor John Keefe, which comes on the heels of Probation Director Amy Chavez announcing her departure, and last week the Board accepted the retirement notice of County Recorder Janet Converse.
The process of finding a successor to appoint as Recorder, starts as soon as possible. Recruiting for the other two is already underway.
~ The ARMER User Committee, wich was hobbled in 2020 and 2021 due to covid-19, will meet November 15. This group is a result of the radio agreement that expires in 2023. The group is to be discussing public safety procedures and operations. It arose from sentiment that community radio representatives had little input over the course of the original emergency radio contracts.
~ The Board accepted the Community Health Board Report from Public Health Department Administrator Courtney Wehrenberg. She pointed out a report to the legislature on how county per capita expenditures to fund public health staff workforce, from 2007 to 2019, dropped from $67.91 to $58.92. That being stated— she said the county health board got an increase of $43,661 annually effectively boosting the current funding of $135,128.
The assessment of community health needs will be updated in 2022. It now shows concerns are number mental health, adverse child experiences, obesity and food insecurity.
