BCA names officers involved in Forest Lake shooting
There are two Forest Lake officers and a Washington county deputy on administrative leave, as the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates a fatal shooting the three were involved in, November 28 in Forest Lake.
The authorities were called to respond to a home where a male was unwanted and carried a gun. The suspect left the scene of the domestic complaint about 1:30 p.m. Authorities decided to pursue him when he fled. The vehicle was forced to stop with a technique called pursuit intervention, and when the man allegedly made threatening gestures the three members of law enforcement fired.
The victim died later, and has been identified as 47 year old Bradley Erickson, of Forest Lake.
This happened just outside the Chisago County line on North Shore Trail.
The BCA identified the officers as Officer Jonathan Glader, a 16 year Forest Lake veteran, Matthew Smith, 17 years with Forest Lake and Deputy Greg Reiter, a 26 year Washington County employee.
The BCA will provide its findings to the Washington County Attorney, without recommendation on any charges. It will be up to the county attorney to review the investigation.
