COVID-19 death rate climbs in county, local vaccination data not improving much
The weekly data being reported (as of Tuesday) on the State of MN website show that Chisago County deaths due to covid-19 now number 98. The deaths are nearly all being attributed to the Delta variant with the past 30 day tracking determining 90 percent of Minnesota cases requiring hospitalization, are due to Delta.
Chisago County has 10,947 as a cumulative total of cases over the span of the pandemic. County of residence is determined in case interviews.
Surrounding county death rates range from half what Chisago has experienced with 48 in Pine County— to Isanti with 94 and Anoka (which has more congregate care facilities than Chisago) at 657 deaths.)
As far as vaccination is going, the state data show 29,184 Chisago County residents have completed their shots (incl. boosters) This translates to the group of 18 plus years of age, at 82 percent, the 65 plus years at 95.8 percent—yet the county population group, age 5 and older, in total is only at 55.8 percent with completed vaccination series.
