St. Bridget's gives Hannah's Arms a rest; boutique remains
St. Bridget of Sweden Church in Lindstrom has put Hannah’s Arms, Saturday parenting and family crafts sessions, on hold. The Baby Blanket Boutique, however, does continue to provide goods to support families with new children or expecting, and remains open to the public two days each week.
The two programs have been an outreach of the Lindstrom Catholic church congregation for years, but the mid-morning sessions on the third Saturdays were seeing a dip in attendance. The Hannah’s Arms program was meant to be a way for parents to socialize, enjoy a provided lunch and learn a home-making skill, while children played in a supervised setting at the church.
Volunteers did arts and activities and read books and served snacks to the children.
Attendees could also earn a new car seat or a new crib upon completing a certain number of Hannah’s Arms sessions. An organizer for the program said there continues to be educational outreach (using videos) to qualify for equipment, and if you are interested please contact the church and leave your phone number.
The Baby Blanket Boutique is open Thursdays and Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30. The address is 13060 Lake Boulevard, Lindstrom.
The boutique is geared toward providing gently used maternity clothing, garments for boys and girls ages infant to size 6 and diapers. The boutique can not accept donated furnishings or used car seats or toys.
Donations of baby wear, shoes and maternity outfits or packages of diapers are welcome and can be left during the boutique’s open hours— or call 651-304-0432 and set up a special drop-off if necessary. Cash is always useful. Make checks payable to Baby Blanket/Church of St. Bridget and mail to: 13060 Lake Boulevard, Lindstrom MN 55045. Donations are tax deductible.
