A van full of passengers, an SUV carrying an infant, and a passenger car were all involved in a crash scene on Highway 95, Thursday night June 30, west of North Branch in Isanti County.
An infant was transported to Childrens Hospital with what were described in the state patrol preliminary report as sustaining life threatening injuries. Nobody else reportedly suffered serious trauma.
According to the state patrol, Chisago and Isanti Sheriff personnel assisted at the scene, with North Police and Fire and Cambridge Police.
The crash was called in about 4:40 p.m.
A Dodge Caravan reportedly came up behind an eastbound Mazda CX 5 that was indicating a left turn onto 310th off Hwy 95. Instead of utilizing the right hand bypass lane and going round the SUV, the Caravan hit the car and pushed it into the opposite (westbound) lane. There was a Toyota Camry westbound and these two collided. The Toyota was driven by a 71-year old male from West Virginia, according to the state patrol and carried a woman and child, whose injuries were listed as “not life threatening.”
The Mazda was operated by Melanie Allen, 28 of North Branch traveling with a young child and infant in this vehicle. In the 2018 Grand Caravan were five passengers (ages 15, 17 and 19) and the female driver was identified as a 19-year old from Mora.
