7/29/2022 11:45:00 AM Center City Days and Triathlon
This weekend it’s Center City’s turn to have some fun. Center City Days begins Friday. There is a community potluck picnic held at Water Tower Park where you are asked to bring something to share with others.
There is a great kiddie parade that runs from the church to Water Tower Park for the potluck. The parade starts at 5:45. Bring your kids in their costumes. The public is then invited to the fire hall at 7 p.m. for cash bingo. Food and refreshments are available for purchase.
On Saturday the day kicks off with a triathlon that includes a run, bike and kayak course. Registration is open the morning of at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church lower parking lot, from 8-8:45 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m.
There is an all day vendor fair that runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
At 11 a.m., kids games will open at Marine Dock & Lift and at 11 a.m. there is a cribbage tournament at Pizza Pub.
At 1 p.m. the missing lutefisk hunt begins with clues posted every half hour at the main tent. There is a bags tournament (cornhole) under the big tent that starts at 3 p.m.
The day caps off witht the grand day parade which makes its way from the Government Center all the way into town. The kiddie parade runs from the church down Center Ave. begins at 6 p.m. with the big parade following shortly after.
Also on Saturday, the folks at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church invite the public to their third annual pig roast. The event runs from 4-6 p.m. and is free to all.
The night caps off with a street dance under the tent where Big Toe and the Jam will perform. Gates open at 8 p.m. and cost is only $5.
Sunday starts with a pancake breakfast held at the fire hall from 8-noon. There is a dance party at 11 a.m. put on by River City Cloggers under the big tent.
There is a great car show that runs from 11-2 p.m. at Marine Dock & Lift and a really cool walking tour of Center City that starts at Pizza Pub at 1 p.m.
The Center Lake Association will hold its annual boat parade beginning at 2 p.m. as decorated boats make their way around North and South Center lakes. The plan (weather permitting) is to finish the celebration with music on the water at the fishing pier across from the Grumpy Minnow at 3:30 p.m.
The Chisago Lakes Triathlon takes place this Sunday. I am mentioning this for a few reasons. The first is to please be careful when driving on Sunday as runners and bikers will be all over the southern part of the county for a good chunk of the day. The other reason is to invite the public out to cheer on these amazing athletes as they brave the three part course beginning with a swim and transitioning into the bike, before ending with the run portion. The event begins and ends at Paradise Park in Chisago City.
