Lighting Festival was amazing and so was one of its volunteers
What an absolutely beautiful night Taylors Falls had for the lighting festival.  Mid 40’s, no wind and tons of people.  It was one of the biggest attendance at a Lighting Festival in Taylors Falls to my memory.  The street was lined with people from Casey’s all the way to the Drive-In on both sides.

Lighting Festivals have begun, Gift Guides are out, color away!
Tomorrow (Friday) everyone is invited to Taylors Falls for the annual Taylors Falls Lighting Festival.  The entire downtown gets lighted beautifully with Christmas lights which then is followed up with a lighted Christmas parade.  The lighting event takes place at 6pm and I would get there early.  There are plenty of things to do prior to the parade, like Mrs. Claus at the library from 5-6pm, a tour of the Folsom House decorated for Christmas, chili at St. Joseph’s Church and Booya at Romayne’s.  After the parade, Santa will be at Schoony’s and there will be a live nativity in the lower level of the depot/community center.

Bring on the Thanksgiving leftovers
I love being able to work with Thanksgiving leftovers the weekend after the big foodie holiday. There’s usually so much that there’s chances to do some creative things and not be too mad if it doesn’t turn out.

Sunrise Lake youth camp eyes location in Marine
A youth camp development proposed in Chisago Lake Township —that ran into a wall of citizen lake-protectors — now has its sights set on using the  Wilder Nature Center, adjacent to Marine-on-St Croix in Washington County. Neighbors who have been waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop on this Sunrise Lake extreme church camp plan, can relax, as it has dropped already but it didn’t land locally.

Locals celebrate veterans on their special day
At bottom, Taylors Falls Elelmentary School has created a nice, informal tradition, where the young students mingle with visiting veterans before the annual, noon meal is served  at the fire hall.  Veterans spend time answering kids’ questions and sharing special crafts created just for the day. Above, Zion Church was the site for the veterans meal last week to commemorate Veterans Day and bring local active duty and past veterans together.  The roast pork and trimmings were served by area civic organization members.
