City lot sale questioned, public works site looking to expand
Lindstrom City Council met May 19 for a regular meeting.  All members were present.  In public forum, resident Linda Lindgren told the council her son offered to purchase the vacant lot on Oak Street and Highway 8 and the city owned south of it.  Lindgren said her son wanted to build an office for his company but was told a building had to be 5,000 square feet with apartments above.  Lindgren asked why that property has sat empty and now has reportedly sold for $1.

Memorial Day weekend, come paddle
This weekend is Memorial Day.  A day that has been set aside to honor those women and men who have given their lives for our freedom.  A sacrifice that comes with the highest honor, serving our country is the greatest gesture one can make.  These women and men have built our country with their dedication and loyalty.  Current military and veterans of the military hold a special place in my heart.  There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to them (or you if you are a veteran and reading this).  Thank you.

Construction on the roundabout at the intersection of County Road 24 (Old Towne Road) and County Road 23 (Lofton Ave. & Chisago Blvd.) south of Chisago City will begin the week of June 6, with the road closure & detour happening on the 8th, after school is out for the summer.  Given that this intersection is situated between the lakes and there is not a good or easy way to detour traffic here, the traffic impact will be substantial.

Is that the dump? Nope just South Center
Saturday afternoon we decided to take a boat ride after a long day working in the yard.  We like to just slowly putt around the lake and unwind like alot of folks do in this area.  We were over by Pancake Island on South Center when we passed a group of four 20-somethings on a pedal boat.  The boat was barely above water, it was clearly meant for two people. But there were two men paddling in the front and two women on the back enjoying beverages.  Heck it was warm out, I was enjoying a beverage myself.  But as we passed them, a girl on the back finishes off her beer in a bottle, shakes the bottle and proceeds to throw it in the water.

Finally, it's grilling season
I look forward to grilling season every year. The sweet smelling smoke wafting in your face, the seasonings, the meat, everything about grilling is great. I love grilling sides, and the nice weather that comes with it. And boy is spring the perfect time. A little breezy, not too hot. It just screams at you to get your butt out on the deck or patio and fire up the grill and make a good meal.

Love storms - until they wreck your house
Wow - that’s all I can say.  The storm that came through Monday was a real eye-opener.  First, the radar looked bad, then it looked like it was all pushing more northerly and...wham.  Our house is in Center City and from the looks of it, Center City took the brunt of the storm.  I’m not going to pretend to be a meteorologist (although some say I have the hair for it) but the way our two very large trees that are now uprooted are lying it sure looks like wind rotation.  We had one tree fall across the road and the other tree fell directly onto our house.  The wind was then so strong it blew the tree down along the roof to the other side.  Tornado? Who knows - probably not.  Incredibly frustrating? Absolutely.  Sorry about the chain saw noise you will be hearing all summer long.
