Mora Invitational The Wildcat wrestling team had one of its best performances of the season last Saturday at the Mora Invitational. Zach Carlson (220) finished first, Connor Bleymeyer came in second and all seven Wildcats ended up on the podium. As a team, the Wildcats finished seventh out of the ten squads at the meet.
Carlson had a bye in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he pinned Collin McCarthy of Mora at 2:48 to advance to the championship match. In that match, he pinned Deryk Neu of Alexandria in 3:13 to claim the crown, Bleymeyer took just 22 seconds to pin Nathan Stifter of Aitkin in the quarterfinals. He also quickly dispatched Devin Shellito of Rush City-Braham, pinning Shellito in 46 seconds. In the championship match, Bleymeyer and Austin Surgenor of Andover made it all the way to the third period, and Surgenor pinned Bleymeyer at 4:48 to win the championship.
