'Cats crushed by Rangers

Forest Lake 10, Chisago Lakes 2
When the Wildcats played the Forest Lake Rangers last Thursday, the Rangers’ Dalton Saltness scored two goals in the first period.  Not a bad night.  But he wasn’t finished.  He also scored twice in the second period.  Four goals is a pretty good night at any level of hockey.  Saltness kept going and scored two more times in the third period.  When it was all over, Saltness had a double-hat trick and Forest Lake had beaten the Wildcats 10-2.  The game was played at the Forest Lakes Sports Center.

The Rangers outshot the Wildcats 35-19 for the game.  The Wildcats scored both of their goals in the second period.  Tucker Bakken’s goal, assisted by Jake Larson and Sam Helland, cut the Ranger lead to 5-1.  And with just 16 seconds left in the period,  Alex Bachmeier scored to cut the Forest Lakes lead to 6-2.  Justin Lawry and Larson picked up the assists.  But the Rangers piled on four more goals in the third period, erasing even a faint hope of a Wildcat comeback.
