After frigid temps delay Rogers game, Vikings fall to Monticello
Monticello 63, North Branch 47
The extreme colds caused North Branch to miss a scheduled date with Rogers last week, leaving them a bit rusty before hosting Monticello on Friday, February 1.
The Magic were 10-7 coming into the game, and they took down the Lady Vikings fairly easily. They jumped out to a 12-point lead by halftime and stayed ahead for the remainder of the second half, winning by 16.
Anna Olson battered the Vikings down low, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She also had four steals. Cat Terres helped control North Branch’s offense, also, swatting away four shots on defense while getting four rebounds and 11 points.
North Branch failed to establish any balanced scoring. Gail Nelson led them with a career-high 14 points, but nobody else reached double digits. Megan Bunes had nine points and Sylvia Linkert had seven. Paige Peaslee, who had been on a tear recently, struggled against Monticello’s experienced defense that keyed on her, and scored only four points and grabbed seven boards.
