Monticello too fast for Wildcats
Monticello is a state champion contender this year in girls swimming, and it showed when they took on the Chisago Lakes Wildcats on Thursday, September 12.
The only win the Wildcats got was at diving, where Claudia Stipe and Hattie Opdahl finished one-two. Stipe scored 186.85 points and Opdahl had 173.45. Monticello’s top diver was Marina Brown, who scored 147.45.
“The girls dove well against Monticello,” Head Coach Ellen Heath said.
Ilse Johnson had a couple high finishes, coming in second place in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. Other than that, Monticello did a lot of sweeping at the top of the results.
They stretched their lead all the way to 96-44 before moving to exhibition swimming, which gave CL a respectable score at the end of the meet, losing just 96-82.
“Eleanor Undem swam a fast 50 free - our sprint freestyles are all swimming pretty fast,” Heath said. “And Bella Aldrich continues to improve and swim pretty fast.”
Heath did note that there has been some sickness floating around the team, and it’s affecting the practices and performances. She’s looking forward to ridding the bug from the squad.
