Bauer scores four to lead NB past Spectrum
Junior Paige Bauer scored four goals to lead the Viking girls’ soccer team to a 5-1 win over the Spectrum Sting last Saturday in Elk River.
The Vikings wasted no time in this one. In the first minute of the game, Bauer scored off a through ball from sophomore Lilly Johnson. Two minutes later, Bauer scored off another through ball, this time from sophomore Emmie Meyer, and the Vikings had a quick 2-0 lead. Later in the half, senior goalkeeper Emma Mohs punted a ball to just past midfield. Bauer took a touch, turned and was off to the races, scoring her third goal of the game.
The Vikings extinguished any hope of a comeback right away in the second half. Two minutes into the second half, junior Laura Anderson volleyed in a cross from junior Sylvia Linkert for the fourth Viking goal of the game. Later in the half, Bauer scored on a pass from Meyer to make it 5-0. Spectrum got a late goal to spoil the shutout, but the Vikings came away with an impressive win.
The Vikings (4-9-1) will finish off the regular season at home this Saturday against the Forest Lake Rangers at 1 p.m.
