AREA VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP
The Vikings made quick work of their first two section opponents last week. In the opener, the top-seeded North Branch team swept Duluth Denfeld 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.
They didn’t have to use most of their stars for more than a set or two as the Hunters made many unforced errors.
Paige Peaslee led the team with nine kills and Reagan Irons had six. Paige Sheehan had 25 assists.
On Friday, October 25, the Vikings hosted fifth-seeded Duluth Marshall in the second round and pounded the Hilltoppers 25-15, 25-11, 25-18.
The win moved North Branch on to play the second seeded Hermantown Hawks in the top half of Section 7AA. If they win, the winner of the north subsection awaits, as Proctor and Esko play each other. The NB game is on Wednesday, October 30 at Cloquet Middle School at 5:15 p.m. The potential section final would be Saturday, November 2 at 6 p.m. in Cloquet.
In the 7AAA playoffs, the seventh-seeded Wildcats swept Princeton in the first round, winning 26-24, 25-16 and 31-29 in a hotly contested affair.
The win moved them on to play second-seeded Forest Lake, who was unfortunately a little bit too much for the Wildcats.
The Rangers won the battle of the Lakes Area 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 to end Chisago Lakes’ season.
