Bulldogs struggle in three tough games against western opponents

Rum River 11, Chisago Lakes 1
Max McDonough’s fourth-inning single broke up the shutout, but that was the only offensive highlight in the Bulldog’s 11-1 loss against the Rum River Bandits last Wednesday, July 15.  The game was a home game for the Bandits, played at Chisago Lakes High School.  Hunter Lindstrom started and took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Isanti 15, Chisago Lakes 3
The Isanti Redbirds belted out 16 hits, including three home runs, to crush the Bulldogs 15-3 on Friday, July 17 at Isanti.  Catcher Logan Bjorkman provided the only offensive spark for the Bulldogs.  He broke up the no-hitter with a fourth-inning single.  He also blasted a two-run homer to left in the sixth.  Tyler Stilp started and took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Isanti 7, Chisago Lakes 0
As the Bulldogs head toward the playoffs, pitcher Hunter Lindstrom provided some hope for Bulldog fans in a 7-0 loss to the Isanti Redbirds this past Monday, July 20 at Chisago Lakes High School.  Lindstrom pitched a nine-inning complete game.  After allowing a some hard hits to the hard-hitting Redbirds in the first few innings, Lindstrom baffled the Redbirds for the rest of the game, striking out nine.  Lindstrom gave up three runs in the eighth, but all of the hits that inning were popups that fell among hard-charging fielders.  The only hits for the Bulldogs were a second-inning single by Tyler Stilp, a sixth-inning bunt single by Tanner Marquardt and a seventh-inning double to the wall in right center by Kellen Reed.  Marquardt showed off his speed on the bunt – the third baseman was charging hard and fielded the bunt cleanly, but Marquardt still beat the throw to first base by a step.
Bulldog Banter
